What Is A Person? Any individual, firm, partnership, joint venture, limited liability company, association, social club, fraternal organization, corporation, estate, trust, business trust, receiver, assignee for the benefit of creditors, trustee, trustee in bankruptcy, syndicate, the United States, this state, any county, city and county, municipality, district, or other political subdivision of the state, or any other group or combination acting as a unit. §6005

What Is Tangible Personal Property? Personal property, which may be seen, weighed, measured, felt, or touched, or which is in any other manner perceptible to the senses. §6016

What Is A Sale? Any transfer of title or possession, of tangible personal property for a consideration, regardless of when payment is received §6006

Who Is A Retailer? Every seller who makes any retail sale or sales of tangible personal property, and every person engaged in the business of making retail sales at auction of tangible personal property owned by the person or others. §6015

Who Is A Consumer? One that consumes, especially one that acquires goods or services for direct use or ownership rather than for resale or use in production and manufacturing.
