A preliminary study testing the effectiveness of a new HIV drug was implemented on HIV- positive humanized mice at Wake Forest University. Over a period of 6 weeks, mice were split into seven equal groups. One group was given a placebo, while the other six groups were given incrementally increasing dosages of the experimental antiviral drug. Measurements of HIV viral load (viral particles per mL blood) were taken at Day 0, Day 7, Day 14, Day 21, Day 28, Day 35, and Day 42 in order to determine efficacy of the drug.

1.Hypothesis 2.Independent (cause) & dependent (effect) variables 3.Control group & experimental groups  Group given no treatment  Groups receiving treatment 4.Constants – conditions kept the same throughout all groups 5.Random sampling 6.Large sample size (n) 7.Repeated – multiple trials 8.Graphs 1.Title your graph & label axes w/ units 2.Keep consistent scale 3.Start at X & Y vertex 4.Connect dots 5.Key – if more than one line per axes set Good Experimental Design
