S1 CREATIVE CURRICULUM

Creative Curriculum in S1 Following the success of the S2 Creative Curriculum Based on the same model –Class sizes of 20 –Two period slot once a week

Aims Link with the aims of A Curriculum for Excellence Build on success of S2 Creative Curriculum Allow pupils access to a wide range of learning experiences – freedom to discover new skills. Focus on collaborative learning and taking responsibility for own learning

Creative Curriculum in S1 Run by the English Department rather that Pastoral Care Options in S1 are slightly different – this means the pupils have a greater variety of experiences over the two years! Between August and May each class will experience six out of the eight experiences Each experience runs for 5 weeks

This year the experiences on offer are: Magazine Advertising Drama Digital Video Public Speaking Poetry Creative Writing ELLI

Challenges! For the last eight weeks of the summer term the pupils choose one of the options and take on a challenge! This requires them to take responsibility for their own learning and work collaboratively. They are expected to research, produce and showcase their work!

All of the pictures you have seen during this presentation are of this year’s S1 during the preparation stages of their challenges.
