Presentation transcript:

No More Underlining Instead, italicize titles of published works (books, periodicals, etc). Diamond, Jared. Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed. New York: Penguin, Print.

No More URLs Do still include authors, article names, and website names, when available. Writers are, however, encouraged to provide a URL if the citation information does not lead readers to easily find the source. Some instructors may still require this info.

No state of publication There is not need to designate the state, country, etc. for place of publication. List the city only. Juffer, Jane. “Sandra Cisneros: Biographical Note.” Modern American Poetry. Urbana-Champaign: Dept. of English, U of Illinois, Web. 12 May 2008.

Publication Medium Every entry receives a medium of publication marker. Most entries will be listed as Print or Web, but other possibilities include Performance, DVD, TV, etc. Most of these markers will appear at the end of entries; however, markers for Web sources are followed by the date of access.

Berger, James D. and Helmut J. Schmidt. “Regulation of Macronuclear DNA Content in Paramecium Tetraurelia.” The Journal of Cell Biology 76.1 (1978): JSTOR. Web. 20 Nov Johnson, Paul. The Birth of the Modern: World Society New York: Harper Collins, Print.

New Abbreviations Many web source entries now require a publisher name, a date of publication, and/or page numbers. When no publisher name appears on the website, write n.p. for no publisher given. When sites omit a date of publication, write n.d. for no date. For online journals that appear only online (no print version) or on databases that do not provide pagination, write n. pag. for no pagination.

Kessl, Fabian, and Nadia Kutsche. “Rationalities, Practices, and Resistance in Post-Welfarism. A Comment on Kevin Stenson.” Social Work & Society 6.1 (2008): n. pag. Web. 10 Oct

Page numbers For all print or web articles that are multi pages (and not consecutive) use a plus sign and period after the first page number. Urbina, Ian. “Voter ID Battle Shifts to Proof of Citizenship.” New York Times 12 May 2008: A1+. Print.
