Final Jeopardy Answer American Revolution Mistreatment from Great Britain made Americans want self government. Declaration of Independence set out a list of ideas describing the way a government should treat citizens; all men created equal; all have the right to life, liberty and the persuit of happiness; the government gets its power from the people; people should be able to do away with a government that it no longer wants. US Constitution Did not want a government that would over power its citizens; like a King. Constitution was created to control the power of the central govenment. Three branches of government created so one branch would not be too powerful. Legislature created to represent the people of the country. Bicameral so the two houses would balance each other. A Bill of Rights created to protect the rights of the people. GA Constitution of 1777 Created 3 branches of Government; but the Legislature had the most power. Legislature was unicameral; Legislature elected the Governor, chose county officials.
