Week #9 Law of the Inner Circle EQ: Where does the security of a leader lie?

What type of people should you surround yourself with? Potential Value – Potential Value – THOSE WHO RAISE UP THEMSELVES – seek out people with potential and work to turn that potential into production. Positive Value “Enthusiasm is contagious. Start an epidemic.” Positive Value – THOSE WHO RAISE MORALE IN THE GROUP – seek out people who lift up others. “Enthusiasm is contagious. Start an epidemic.”

“As iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen the minds and character of each other.” Personal Value Personal Value – THOSE WHO RAISE UP THE LEADER – Its lonely at the top so you better take people with you. You want solid supporters NOT ‘yes men’. Production Value Production Value – THOSE WHO RAISE UP OTHERS – As long as you (future leaders) are willing to learn, I will have a job. YOUR job is to then raise up those you let into your inner-circle.

“With the ever present determination of growing and improving.” ~ John Quincy Adams Proven Value Proven Value – THOSE WHO RAISE UP LEADERS WHO RAISE UP OTHER LEADERS – The greatest value to any leader is someone who can raise up other leaders. That produces multigenerational leadership.

If you are not improving, neither are those who follow you! Continually Learn Continually Learn – If you don’t grow you got to go! Be Service Orientated Be Service Orientated – The greatest leaders are the greatest servants. Radiate Positive Energy Radiate Positive Energy – The opposite of a leader is a pessimist. Believe in the Infinite Potential of People Believe in the Infinite Potential of People – Leaders are dealers of hope.

Further steps to strengthen your Inner Circle Lead a Balanced Life Lead a Balanced Life – Make sure your private and public affairs are consistent. Live Life as an Adventure Live Life as an Adventure – Everybody dies but everybody does not live. Exercise Self-Renewal Exercise Self-Renewal – Mistakes are going to be made. How you respond will determine the type of personal Inner Circle you possess.

Be the EXAMPLE not the Exception! The Challenge is to be the light, NOT the judge; To be the model, not a critic.

Principled-Centered Leaders: Character & Competence The only failure in life is an experience not learned from. Flexibility – BEND but do not break

Where does the security lie? Where does the security NOT Lie? Initiative Resourcefulness Creativity Will Power Courage “You reap what you sow.” In the safety, protection, and abundance of comfort zones and materialism.

LIFT “There are just two kinds of people on Earth. Just two kinds of people, no more, I say. Not the good and the bad. For ‘tis well understood that the good are half-bad and the bad are half-good. The two kinds of people on the Earth I mean are the people who LIFT and the people who lean.” LEADERS ARE LIFTERS
