The Nature of Management Management is concerned with using the resources of the organization to reach the organization’s objectives. Management’s purpose is to use these resources effectively and efficiently so that the objectives of the organization are achieved with a minimum of cost. Management activities share some common characteristics: All activities occur within the context of an organization. Managers are in charge of the organization’s resources— people, equipment, finances, data—and of using these resources to help the organization reach its objectives. © 2015 YOLO Learning Solutions

The Impact of Management Because management is essentially a decision-making process, it affects others. Management is characterized by leadership, decision making, and the implementation of work tasks. The consequences of a manager’s decisions may have either a positive or negative effect on the manager, the manager’s subordinates, and the organization, as well as other groups—stakeholders. © 2015 YOLO Learning Solutions
