Body Plan: Bilateral symmetrical larvae develop into radially symmetrical adults Deuterostomes – embryonic development in which the 1 st opening in the gastrula (embryo) is the anus. Most have pentaradial symmetry, body parts extend from the center along five spokes Endoskeleton made of calcium carbonate plates known as ossicles which makes up spiny skin. Water vascular system – network of water-filled canals used for oxygen, nutrient circulation. Tube feet – using for movement, feeding, respiration and excretion.

How do they reproduce: Separate sexes Sexual reproduction; most have external reproduction Regeneration occurs in some species

How does it get nutrients: Complete digestive system Some species eject their stomachs to capture prey and bring back into cavity for digestion. This allows capturing of larger prey.
