TRAINING NEEDS ANALYSIS Globally OCHA’s mandate is to support… “a more systematic coordination of the common humanitarian programme”, recognizing that… “humanitarian response is underpinned by integrated analysis and rigorous learning.”

TRAINING NEEDS ANALYSIS There has been no recent ‘across the board’ (agency, sector, country) analysis of disaster response training undertaken. This initiative by UNOCHA is an attempt to remedy this situation.

TRAINING NEEDS ANALYSIS Aim: To Guide Future Training and Capacity Development Efforts and Strategies for humanitarian disaster response in the Pacific, ….by Pacific Island Countries, Humanitarian and Development Organizations, Donor Partners and Cluster Lead Agencies. (ie: members of the Pacific Humanitarian Team).

TRAINING NEEDS ANALYSIS Completion end Feb 2011 Overview of past/present training… Literature review..(esp EoM reports)… Direct interviews (in 4 countries with recent disaster experience)… Indirect interviews… Multi agency… Gap analysis… Report, priorities and recommendations.
