Working with Foster Youth in Higher Education CSU DOMINGUEZ HILLS

PURPOSE Because CalSWEC students are making a commitment to enter the profession of public child welfare, exposure to different issues that are experienced by different populations served within public child welfare, is an important part of their learning experience. Through this model, they will work specifically with foster youth who are transitioning into higher education.

PURPOSE Research has reflected that the percentage of foster youth who enter college and remain to the point of certificate or degree attainment is significantly lower when compared to non-foster care youth.
