Soil By : Megan, Anna Lee, Jon, and Jackson

Ingredients in Soil The decomposing material called humus is a rich dark brown color. Air and minerals are nonliving ingredients in soil. Soil is also full of life. Different soils are made from different kinds of rock and minerals.

How Soil is Renewed The process of weathering, erosion, and depositation, work together to form soil. Water that drips into the rock, freezes and thaws again and again. Eventually, bits of rock break apart. Plant roots can also break parts of rock into smaller pieces. Then, erosion deposits the weathered pieces into a new place.

How resources are used Are you wearing jeans? Are you holding a pencil? You are using natural resources! Natural resources are resources that nature provides. This includes renewable and nonrenewable resources.

Properties of soil Each type of soil has certain qualities. As rock weathers, it breaks into particles of various sizes.
