Welcome Screen and Help Menu The Welcome Screen provides tutorials, tips, and other information. The Help menu allows the designer to search by topics, table of contents, keywords, the Web, and an index. The Photoshop CS Help menu also provides tutorials.

Zoom and Hand Tools, Navigator Palette Use the Hand tool to move the entire image. Use the Zoom tool to move in close or back away from the image. Use the Navigator palette to locate portions of an image.

Zoom and Hand Tools, Navigator Palette (cont.)

Image Menu The Image menu is used for most editing of the image or for selected portions of an image.

Adjusting Image Size for Quality Output If you need to change the original image’s size and avoid loss of quality, you can take it from a larger size such as 8” x 10” down to 6” x 8” and maintain all your pixels. Unchecking the Resample Image option in the Image Size menu allows you to change the resolution without adding or subtracting any pixels, thereby reducing the size of the original image but increasing its dpi.

The Bridge The Bridge, located in the Tool Options bar, or File menu, is an easier way to locate and retrieve information, and preview and manage your image files.
