Position Responsibilities on Offense  While on offense the point guard (1) is responsible for dribbling the ball up the court. This position also makes initial passes to the four other players.  The shooting guard (2) shoots the ball usually from long range.  The small forward (3) moves around from down low to up top on a basic offense. This position usually shoots mid range.  The power forward (4) usually is passed the ball and goes right up with it to the basket.  The center (5) also resides under the basket or near the post.
