WHO? ALL TEACHERS

A process to document a measure of educator effectiveness based on student achievement of content standards. Documents the teacher’s impact on student learning. WHAT?

WHAT WE KNOW Cannot utilize Keystone or PSSA as an SLO Each teacher must have one SLO. An entire school or team cannot have the exact same SLO SLOs can be developed collaboratively Administrator must give final approval

LOCAL DECISIONS How the process will be managed Timelines for submitting (must meet teacher evaluation timelines) The duration of the SLO period The number of students included Which students are included The quality of the SLOs Approval of SLOs

HOW THE PROCESS WILL BE MANAGED ? Teachers will be required to complete their SLO in PA-ETEP. Benchmarks/CDTs will be completed by the first Act 80 day yearly allowing time for data review prior to the initial submission Teachers will need to set up a meeting with their principal for a mid-point review

TIMELINES Initial plan due September 28, 2015 for school year Final submission of the SLO is due on the last school day of

DURATION OF THE SLO Teacher discretion Suggested time is a couple of weeks to a month This is a slice of pie in your instruction, not a complete dissection.

WHAT STUDENTS DO I INCLUDE? No specific number of students needed Minimum of 10 data points is encouraged You choose your group. Whole group? Sampling? Sub-group?

QUALITY AND APPROVAL OF SLOS Administrative decision based on conversations and individual improvement on a yearly basis. Goals should vary based in on incoming students’ baseline data.

HELPFUL RESOURCES Can directly access the Research in Action Website Can access the Professional Learning Communities in “Teacher Tools” to retrieve all state powerpoints and templates. (Must register as a user to access Communities) literacydesigncollaborative.org – can access assessment templates that integrate content and literacy; established rubrics

WHERE? These are local assessments that are designed, approved, implemented, and reviewed at the local level. SLO data are not collected at the state level.
