A Faculty Club for UTMB May Proposal first presented to Faculty Senate for establishment of a Faculty Club Currently no site on campus for faculty to meet where professional, networking, collaborative, restorative and social interactions are fostered and encouraged Faculty Clubs active at many other health science campuses, including several in Texas
Benefits Encouragement and fostering collaboration among faculty from different departments and schools Improved faculty morale and congeniality Increased visibility for related organizations
Drawbacks Financial investment Space & remodeling needs Faculty “down time” Will it be used?
Potential sites 2 sites from several suggested: Old Red – old snack bar on ground floor Galveston Yacht Club
Would the faculty use a Club? Faculty Quality Committee survey Sampled the Faculty Senate, assuming they represent a cross- section of the faculty of UTMB Response from approximately 2/3
Results of survey Lunch and snacks preferred Beer and wine after 5 PM Non-institutional furnishings Majority would visit more than occasionally Less costly, the better
