5.Were the English, French, and Dutch explorer successful in finding this route? Why or why not? They were not successful in finding the Northwest Passage because frozen waters and many islands prevented them from achieving their goal.

6.Explain why gold is a motivation for exploration. Gold, riches and land would make the European Empires more powerful.

7.Explain why God is a motivation for exploration. Europeans wanted to spread their Christian faith to peoples in the New World.
