Cell Referencing Absolute reference: remains constant throughout a copy operation –Specified with a dollar sign before the column and row, i.e. $B$4 Relative reference: adjusts during a copy operation –Specified without dollar signs, i.e. B4 F4 key to change from relative to absolute reference

Fill Handle Select the cell or cells Drag to copy to a destination range

Pointing Method for Formula More accurate than typing cell references –Type = sign –Use the mouse to select the cell(s) –Type arithmetic sign between the cell references –Press enter to complete the formula

Comment Insert comment –Select cell, insert menu, comment, type comment –Select cell, click the right mouse button, insert comment, type comment Delete or edit comment –Select cell, click the right mouse button, delete or edit comment –Select cell, insert menu, edit comment

Formatting Copy formatting –Select the cell for copying –Double click the format painter button on the standard toolbar –Click and drag the paintbrush over the cells to paste the format Conditional formatting –Select the cell or cells –Format menu, conditional formatting, enter the condition or conditions –Select add for multiple conditions –Select delete to erase the conditional formatting

Date Arithmetic Operation Excel stores all dates as integers –Serial numbers, beginning with January 1, 1900 –The difference between dates is determined by subtracting one number from another Today() function always returns the current date

Web Application HTML (HyperText Markup Language): a standard language for creating Web pages Round trip HTML: allows you to edit a web page in the application that created it Single File Web Page: all elements of a Web page are saved as a single file –Mht as the file extension

Web Application Insert a hyperlink into a worksheet –Select the cell, insert menu, hyperlink –Select the cell, right click, edit hyperlink Save a workbook as a Single File Web page with mht file extension –File, save as web page –Refresh button to update
