Calvin Cycle Objective: understand Calvin cycle and how it is different from light dependent parts of photosynthesis

Understand Calvin cycle Calvin cycle- Light independent Take energy from ATP and NADPH and use it to make energy that can be stored (sugar!)

Steps of Calvin Cycle 1. 6CO Carbon molecules= 12 3-C molecules 2. Energy from ATP and NADPH turn the 12 3-C molecules into higher energy forms

Steps of Calvin Cycle cont. 3. Two 3-C molecules are removed (used to make sugar, lipids and other things to store energy) C molecules  6 5-C molecules Repeat!

Steps of Calvin Cycle cont. CO 2 CO 2 CO 2 CCCCC CCCCC CCCCC CCCCC CCCCC CCCCC =CCC CCC CCC CCC CCC CCC
