Robert De La Salle By: Magnificent Meghan & Extraordinary Ellie

Personal Background At the beginning he was a fur trader. He decided that he would want to be an explorer. In Rouen, France, he spent 9 years as a Jesuit student & teacher, he learned Indian language before he came to the new world.

Sponsors Robert De La Salle got permission from the KIng Louis the (XlV) to explore all land between Florida, Mexico, and New France. His men also explored part of the Lake Erie, Lake Huron, and Lake Michigan. And all surrounding land.

Motives La Salle traveled from France to Quebec, New France, in late He was determined to find a water passage to the east through north america. Montreal in July 1669, La Salle crossed Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, and other places which were not documented, (he did not return to Montreal until late 1670.)
