Simon Bolivar is one of the most famous figures in Spanish History.

As a child through adulthood, he was extremely wealthy. He got most of his money from plantations from his other ancestors.

At age 19, he married Maria Teresa Rodríguez del Toro y Alaysa.

Bolívar returned to Venezuela in 1807, It was during this period that Bolívar wrote his Manifiesto de Cartagena.Manifiesto de Cartagena

Simón Bolívar was in office from December – May 4, 1830.

More facts about Simón Bolívar. - His real name was Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar Palacios y Blanco. - He was a liberator.

In 1813, Simon Bolivar acquired military power.

In 1817, with Haitian soldiers and vital material support, Bolívar landed in Venezuela and captured Angostura. He decided to do this to abolish slavery and fight for independence for New Granada.

Simon Bolivar was also known to be a free mason.

As the Spanish completed their reconquest of the country, Bolivar escaped to Cartagena in New Granada. He began championing a political system in which the nobility played a strong role, led by a president for life. The government of New Granada authorized a revolutionary force to liberate the Spanish- held bastions in their territory and in Venezuela.

On December 5, at dawn, Bolivar's 3,000 attacked 5,000 Spanish forces under General Monteverde, who were on in the hills near Araure.
