1/19/16 – Debate Topics Should evolution be taught in schools? Should the drinking age be raised, lowered, or kept the same? For each topic, write a thesis statement, one supporting argument, and one piece of evidence (requires some research; must be factual!) that supports both your thesis statement and your supporting argument. DUE THURSDAY!!!! (No school Friday)

Evidence Should the government make community college free for all students? Thesis: The government should make community college free for all students because the amount of debt incurred by today’s college student negatively impacts the United States’ economy. Supporting Argument: If students didn’t have to take huge loans to go to college, more money could be put into the economy through spending. Evidence: “About 70% of 2013 graduates left college with an average of $28,400 in debt” (US News).
