Syllabus Review Course Outcomes Understand how theories of psychology and neuroscience explain human behavior, including psychological disorders and treatment approaches. Identify ethical issues as they pertain to psychology. How we achieve this Readings Discussion Seminar Quizzes Projects

Readings and Seminar Readings are the basis for our conversations in seminar and on the Discussion Board Seminar Requirement Rubric for Grading What will we do in seminar? How can I best prepare for seminar? What if I can’t attend seminar? Grading CriteriaPoints Frequent and thoughtful interaction on concepts being discussed by students and instructor. 0-4 Posts are on topic and contribute to the quality of the seminar. 0-4 Student arrives on time and stays the entire seminar.0-2 TOTAL10

Discussion Board Discussion Board Requirement Rubric for Grading. Grading CriteriaPoints Makes one primary post for each discussion thread answering each of the questions fully with substance meeting length requirements (200 words for each primary post) Makes two or more thoughtful responses to other students on each thread contributing to the quality of the discussion and meeting length requirements (75 words or more for each peer response). 0-8 Primary responses make at least one reference to the unit material, text, or other academic source 0-4 Responses are clearly written.0-4 TOTAL30

Projects (SEE RUBRICS IN SYLLABUS) Unit 4 – Operant Conditioning Unit 7 – Brain Disorders Unit 9 – FINAL Focuses on consolidating your knowledge *HINT* 75% of the project can be completed before unit 9! How can I maximize my grade on projects? APA style Pay attention to deadlines Make sure you answer all the questions fully Make sure you meet minimum length requirements Double space (no more) Do not plagarize!

Late Policies Late Projects You will lose one letter grade per week after the deadline has passed, unless we have made other arrangements for extenuating circumstances. Projects will not be accepted more than three weeks late. UNIT 9 PROJECTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER SATURDAY OF UNIT 10 – NO MATTER WHAT

Late Policies Late Penalty Policy for Seminar Option 2 Postings: You will lose.5 points for every week you don’t submit Option 2 (this is only applicable if you have not completed Option 1). For Unit’s 1-4, you have until the end of Unit 5 to submit them. For Units 5-8, you have until the end of Unit 9 Late Discussion Policy You lose one letter grade per week Late postings for units 1-4 will not be accepted after midnight Tuesday of Unit 5. Postings for units 5-8 will not be accepted after midnight Tuesday of unit 9. YOU MUST ME WHENEVER YOU SUBMIT LATE WORK

Conditional Enrollment Policy THIS AFFECTS ALL FIRST TERM STUDENTS By Unit 5 – All late work must be submitted and you must have an average of 65 or higher. If you average is below 65, you will be automatically dropped from the course. How this affects you No late work will be accepted after unit 5 You must turn in all assignments prior to the start of unit 5.
