Reconstruction Reconstruction was the age of pretty much rebuilding the nation after the civil war.

Reconstruction After the democrats, republicans, and people in general were asking what would happen to the southern slave holders what rights would be granted to the average African Americans and how this nation could be rebuilt.

Reconstruction People saw how the south was demolished and thought of many plans to improve it this was known as reconstruction.

Lincoln’s plan The first one to come up with a plan was Lincoln which was called the ten percent plan which said the people who wanted to support the north had to pledge loyalty which meant the state could form a new government and adopt a new constitution of banning slavery, Lincoln thought just punishing the south would break the nation up more than it ever would before.

Reconstruction Radical republicans argued that the president shouldn’t control the reconstruction so the congress voted to deny seats to representatives under Lincolns plan.

Reconstruction The Wade Davis Bill came and said, that only white males who swear loyalty that they never raised a weapon against the union that could vote for delegate Lincoln quickly learned that he would have to go against the radical republicans.

Reconstruction The freedmen’s bureau was made for helping Africans Americans freed from slavery gave food and clothes to them and also gave medical services then opened university for them so that African Americans could get a higher education.

Lincoln’s Assassination President Lincoln went to a theater play on April 14 th 1865 and only five days after general Robert Lee surrendered john wilks shot Lincoln in the head in first degree murder after a couple of months they hunted down john wilks and shot him to death then found out 8 people plotted for Lincolns assassination four were hung, people mourned Lincoln very deeply.

Restoration Johnson announced his plan where southerners would be granted power once they swear loyalty and whites who only swear loyalty could be allowed to vote and he had no objective to free Africans Americans and had to ratify the thirteenth amendment.
