Life of John Adams VIDEO (1735) Adams was born on October 19 th in the city of Braintree, Massachusetts. (1759) John Adams meets Abigail Smith for the first time. After two years the officially get married. (1764) Was chosen as VP under George Washington. ( ) Elected President at age 61. (1797) He was also the first President to live in the White House. (1800) John Adams died at the age of 90 from pneumonia on July 4 th 1826.

Interesting Facts about John Adams He was a bad dancer. He was the first president to live in the White House. His last words were “Thomas Jefferson survives” He was not a slave holder but he was against abolition. He defended the British soldiers accused of the Boston Massacre He was elected the Second President of the United States after serving as VP for George Washington. He was the Second President

Political Parties When two political parties were formed Adams joined the Federalist party. He never got on with Alexander Hamilton the dominant leader of the party. He was elected Federalist nominee in He later went on to win the election of 1796 over Thomas Jefferson and became the 2 nd President of the United States.
