Presentation transcript:

Bellringer Take out the poem “Narcissa” that you read and annotated using TPC for homework. In the bellringer section of your binder: 1.Describe “Narcissa” is one word. 2.Select textual evidence from the poem to support your description. Also, need to introduce you to the Cycle 5 activity, so please take out your Orange Think-Tac-Toe sheet and review “Similes.”

Similes 1. Select one of your cycle 5, step 3 words. 2. Brainstorm comparisons that word lends itself to. 3. Setup simile relationship. 4. Explain comparison.

1.Select one of your cycle 5, step 3 words. misconception 2.Brainstorm comparisons that word lends itself to. Allowing them greatly alters your perspective or your thinking * Can cause inaccuracies 3. Setup simile relationship.Allowing misconceptions is like permitting weeds to overtake your garden. 4. Explain the comparison.Weeds are unwanted plants that can cause harm or danger to the flowers and plants that are desired. One must spend time digging them up or unplanting them to eliminate them. Finding the root cause to prevent them from occurring again is even wiser. So one must do with misconceptions. One must spend time “weeding” through where and how the mishap of information clouded his thinking, so he can accurately comprehend information for which he was searching. An example of the simile activity

Outcomes I can determine literal and figurative meanings within a text. I can identify allusions to determine how they impact a text.
