How did Michelangelo use this sculpture to represent the Christian Story? Michelangelo used this sculpture to show the Christian story for a number of reasons. No one knows what this sculpture is saying but there are many theories. One is that to Mary she is holding baby Jesus and to anyone who looks she is holding Jesus as a grown man. Other theories say that even though Mary would have been an older women when Jesus died she looks like a young women in the sculpture and this has cause lots of suspicion.

What feelings or thoughts do you have when viewing this sculpture? When I first looked at this sculpture I assumed it had something to do with Christianity. This sculpture made me feel sad and shocked. It made me feel sad because it looked like Jesus was dead and it made me feel shocked because the sculpture was different and quite shocking.
