About Porcupines They are nocturnal. They are mammals. They are rodents. They have sharp teeth. Porcupines have fur. There are 27 kinds of porcupines in the world. Porcupines hiss. They are excellent swimmers.

Quills Porcupines have fur to keep them warm. They shed their quills. Porcupines quills are on top of their fur. Don’t touch their quills. They have 2000 quills

Where they live They live in desserts, grasslands, forest,trees and hollow logs and they can live for 18 years.

Pounds Porcupines weigh pounds. Some weigh 50 pounds.

Food Baby Porcupines are too young to get food. The mom gets it for babies. Porcupines eat berries, plants, bark, and nuts.

Glossary Gnaw- to nibble or bite something. Rodents- a group of small animals that usually gnaw on their food. Sense- to become aware. Stocky- heavy or short Quills- a different way of saying spikes.
