Why We Pray We can pray to praise God and to thank Him. – Exodus 15:1-18 – Psalm 8 – Ezra 7:27-28 Prayer gives us a sense of comfort and relief (Philippians 4:6-7) “6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

When We Pray Any day and every day, anywhere and everywhere (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Luke 5:16 – Jesus was the busiest man to ever walk the face of the earth, and He still made time to pray. – Like Jesus, we must be making time to pray to God today. There are countless opportunities for us to pray (Acts 1:24; 13:3; John 17).

How We Pray We must first possess the proper attitude and reverence. “and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.” James 5:15

How We Pray Our prayer cannot be in vain (Matthew 6:7-8) We must come before God knowing that He will answer in His time and that His will be done. “8 Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. 9 And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:8-10
