Lesson # 43 Algebra and The Distributive Property

By Liam Gareau Of 804

In order to understand this lesson you must learn the basics!!! If you pay close attention this should come easily to you. Let’s look at the essentials………………

First you must learn the following… You must learn the term co-efficient. That’s when you have a letter without a number, beside it. Ex: 3a or just b. When a letter has no number beside it we automatically give it the value of 1.

Now we’ll figure out how to solve some problems………

Sample Problem #1. 2 ( 3a + b) Multiply 2 x 3a = 6a Multiply 2 x 1b = 2b Answer: ( 6a + 2b )

Here’s a second example………………

Sample Problem #2 6 ( 3a + 5b) Multiply 6 x 3a = 18a Multiply 6 x 5b = 30b Answer: ( 18a + 30b )

And now for your last example………………

That means that if you’ve been dozing off before, pay super close attention!!!!!!!!!!!

Sample Problem #3 4 ( 7a + 2b ) Multiply 4 x 7a = 28a Multiply 4 x 2b = 8b Answer: ( 28a + 8b )

Well that’s all the examples your gonna get

Well, I really hope that you’ve learned something…

And now… 10 Practice Questions

Simplify… The question By Getting rid Of that Number From Outside the bracket!

Question # 1 9 ( 4a + 7b )

Question # 2 7 ( 6a + b )

Question # 3 5 ( 9a + 6b )

Question # 4 7 ( 7a + 11b )

Question # 5 8 ( 10a + 6b )

Question # 6 3 ( 12m + 9n )

Question # 7 9 ( 6x + 9y )

Question # 8 5 ( 9a + 7b )

Question # 9 6 ( 7b + c )

Question # 10 8 ( 5y + 7z )

And Now.. The Answers Prepare Yourself !
