T T14-01 XY Scattergram with Prediction Line Purpose Allows the analyst to visually analyze an XY Scattergram with the superimposed "Least Squares Best Fit" line. Inputs X & Y labels X & Y data Predicted Y values at X data observations Outputs XY Scattergram with Prediction Line

T Andolini’s Pizza Parlors Andolini’s Pizza Parlors is a chain of Italian food restaurants located in a 5 state area. The most successful locations for Armand’s have been near college campuses. The managers believe that quarterly sales for these restaurants (Y) are positively related to the size of the student population (X). The data for the sales of 10 pizza parlors is listed on the next slide. Plot the data to determine If there is a relationship in the quarterly sales (Y) to the size of the student population (X). How would you describe the relationship?

T Andolini’s Pizza Parlors - Data

T Predicted Quarterly Sales (refer to Excel Basics Lesson 23) The Predicted Quarterly Sales for each X observation is an automatic output of the Excel Regression Data Analysis Tool. Refer to Excel Basics Lesson 23.

T Input the the X label in the bright yellow cell and the X data in the light yellow cells, the Y label in the bright green cell and the Y data in the light green cells, and the Predicted Label in the bright pink cell and the Predicted Data in the light pink cells.

T Once the data is entered the XY Scattergram with Prediction Line is automatically created.
