Knowing God as Father

2 Corinthians 6:18 “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

Psalms 68:5 “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.”

We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”

Consider... Has your dad been there for you? Does God seem distant and uninvolved?

Consider... Have you felt you were an interruption to your dad? Do you feel God is too busy for you?

Consider... Did your dad have expectations you could not meet? Does God seem to make demands you cannot attain?

Consider... Has your dad forgiven you when you fail? Does God see like a distant judge?

Consider... Have you felt safe with your dad? Can you rest in God alone? Psalms 62:1 “My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.”

As your Father 1. You are never outside of His love 1 John 3:1 “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”

As your Father 2. You are never outside His faithfulness Lamentations 3:22-23 “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

As your Father 3. You are never outside His strength 1 Chronicles 29:12 “Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.”
