Volleyball “Play Volleyball, you’ll have a ball!” By: Grace and Emma J.

Health Benefits of Volleyball: (Fitness Components) Increases Strength Increases Agility Increases Aerobic endurance and Flexibility Increases reaction time

Health Benefits Of Voleyball: Volleyball helps people strengthen there heart and lungs because volleyball requires cardio activities especially during practice times (running, etc…) It also strengthens your arm, chest, and leg muscles because of techniques used to handle the ball and the footwork involved in the sport. Volleyball also improves your balance and reflexes since you have to learn to react quick when the ball comes in your direction.

Volleyball leads to Self Expression: If you are a competitive person you can express your competitive side when you are on a volleyball team. If you are a social person, you will enjoy the dynamics of working closely together with your teammates. Being part of a volleyball team allows you to express your excitement when your team does well and teaches you to encourage others when your team is not doing well.

Volleyball encourages Social Interaction by: Having to “call” who has the ball during a volley Having to communicate with your teammates to get the ball to the other side of the net (off the court) Coming up with strategies and plays Hanging out together as a team to foster team spirit

Challenges In Volleyball: To play volley you have to be able to … Serve the ball Spike the ball Pass the ball Understand the rules and regulations of the game

Volleyball is a “BALL” ! We enjoy volleyball because… It is a team sport It helps build our muscles and overall fitness And because you can play it any time of year. For example: beach volleyball in the summer and a community rec league at an indoor gym in the winter

Importance/Value Of Volleyball to Us: Volleyball is important to us because it keeps us active We enjoy the self confidence it gives us. We value the fun memories we have of being on teams and we value having fun with our friends and family when we play just for fun.

Participation and Cost : You can join the the Chardon rec volleyball team for $60. This league plays at CMS gym. If you don’t want to join a team you can by a set that includes a ball and net tor $88 at Walmart. Set up your own equipment at the beach or your back yard. You can try out for volleyball in August for the CMS girls team and you have to pay the fees set each year by the school district.
