PV in Buidlings, Status report Overview - Thematic group 4 report available - Successful TG 4 meeting in Freiburg, DE - Some project summaries have to be included - Strategy report and/or TIP has to be outlined concerning BIPV - Further actions Peter Toggweiler, Enecolo AG

PV in Buildings, Status report State of the art - PV in Buildings is now at the beginning of its second decade - Many built examples have demonstrated how PV Buildings look like - Good results have been achieved, it works! - PV clearly has a great potential - No barriers are known at present for the broad exploitation - Difficulties to meeting the cost targets in reasonable time - A lot of different national programs realised and still ongoing Peter Toggweiler, Enecolo AG

PV in Buildings, Status report An good example covering several issues of Enerbuild: One family house with an additional two room office,  South roof covered with PV, env, 12 kW, 10’000 kWh/y (Standard laminates with SOLRIF)  Heat pump for room heating and DHW  Low flow ventilation with heat recovery  Well insulated ( “Minergie” standard)  Net supplier over an annual period (more production than consumption) No other energy except some wood for the chimney. Peter Toggweiler, Enecolo AG

„Haus Aerni“ CH, New house with PV roof, more net supplier over an annual periode incl. heating and DHW

Peter Toggweiler, Enecolo AG Well designed ventilation gap

PV in Buildings, Status report EU Projects 8 Projects under investigations Most of the projects are finished and have met their goals. However, the project do not represent the overall scenery of PV in Building and there is no clear strategy visible what has to bee achieved except cost reductions and standardisation. Peter Toggweiler, Enecolo AG

PV in Buildings, Status report What is do to? Conclusions - Update the TG 4 report - Investigations and evaluation of national programs (extra costs) - Priorities and position of PV in relation to other building technologies - Strategy report and/or TIP for BIPV, Content structure? - Recommendations for the upcoming EU Actions on BIPV It is essential to keep a strong eye on national activities. (Government and Industrial level) Peter Toggweiler, Enecolo AG

PV in Buildings, Status report What is do to? Conclusions - Involving the industry ? - Participation on conferences ? - RTD still required but it is also time to start scaling up - RTD priorities: -Cost reduction methodologies for standard components -CE labels for PV products (A short low cost procedure) -Technical improvements such as efficiency, ecology, building integration procedure Peter Toggweiler, Enecolo AG

PV in Buildings, Status report What is do to? Conclusions Scaling up procedure Support the creation of at least one large module production factory > 500 MW Peter Toggweiler, Enecolo AG
