Generators Cuts J-J.Blaising, 1 April 20112LCD WG6 meeting Stdhep files produced with Whizard Selection cuts were used to produce background events: Same cuts applied on signal after reconstruction. Whizard cuts: 10° < Θ(L) < 170° Pt(L) > 4 GeV Post whizard cuts: Evis < 2.5 TeV 4° < ΔΦ(L,L) < 176° Pt(L,L) > 10 GeV M(L,L) > 100 GeV

Efficiency and Momentum Resolution Definitions J-J.Blaising, 1 April 20115LCD WG6 meeting Reconstruction Efficiency: ε ε = Nevt (2 good reconstructed L) /Nevt (2 generated L) Good L : RPFO matching in space and ID the TPFO Momentum Resolution: δP(L) /P(L)*P(L) ;P(L) = Lepton momentum after FSR or Brems δP = P(generated)-P(reconstructed) εv = Nevt (2 good reconstructed Lv) /Nevt (2 generated Lv) photons or e-,e+ pairs close to the lepton (20⁰) are combined with the lepton; (4 vector sum) -> Lv Good Lv : Lepton matching in space the TPFO (before FSR) δPv(Lv) /P(Lv)*P(Lv) ; P(Lv) = Lepton momentum at Vertex δPv = P(generated)v-P(reconstructed) FSRC; if space matching δPv = P(generated)v-P(reconstructed) no FSRC => asymmetric tail

μ̃: dN/dP and dN/dθ No Overlay J-J.Blaising, 1 April 20116LCD WG6 meeting Efficiency ~ 99.7 %; no P (?) or θ dependence; Jacopo 99.7 %

μ̃: dN/dPv and dN/dθv No Overlay J-J.Blaising, 1 April 20117LCD WG6 meeting Sharper endpoints

dN/(δP/P*P) and dN/(δPv/Pv*Pv) J-J.Blaising, 1 April 20118LCD WG6 meeting δP/P*P = 2.0x10¯⁵ δPv/Pv*Pv = 2.5x10¯⁵ (right side tail and 420 overflow, 0.5 % ) δP/P*P = ΔX √ (K /N+4) /(0.3 BL² sinθ ) PDG parametrization K~720, B=4, L= F1(θ), N=F2(θ) ΔX~50.10¯⁶ m Parametrization can be used for the momentum distribution fit. Momentum resolution in agreement with the assumption made for the work done at generator level

Bkgd: dN/dPv and dN/dθv No Overlay J-J.Blaising, 1 April 20119LCD WG6 meeting Efficiency ~ 98 %; function of P (at high P) and θ (~ 10 and 170 ⁰)

Discriminating Variables J-J.Blaising, 1 April LCD WG6 meeting E(L1)1+E(L1) Visible energy, without neutral energy Pt(L1) + Pt(L2) Pt Vector Sum Pt(L1) + Pt(L2) Pt Algebric Sum M(L1,L2) Invariant mass of the lepton pair Beta(L1,L2) β of the lepton pair Theta(L1,L2) Polar angle of Missing momentum vector Acollinearity of the lepton pair Acoplanarity of the lepton pair Δ = | E(L1) –E(L2) | / E(L1) + E(L2) ; energy imbalance A few plots

Signal/Background No Overlay J-J.Blaising, 1 April LCD WG6 meeting Visible EnergyPt VectorSum Good agreement between generated/reconstructed variables.

Signal/Background No Overlay J-J.Blaising, 1 April LCD WG6 meeting Acoplanarity Acolinearity Good agreement between generated/reconstructed distributions => Validation of the validity of the work done at generator level

dN/dP, dn/dθ with Overlay J-J.Blaising, 1 April LCD WG6 meeting Ε 99.7 ↘ 98.4% ; Jacopo:98.6, no P, θ dependence (Origin? )

dn/dPv, dn/dθv with Overlay J-J.Blaising, 1 April LCD WG6 meeting FSRC creates a small momentum dependence (how ?)

dN/(δP/P*P) and dN/(δPv/Pv*Pv) Without (top)/with Overlay(bottom) J-J.Blaising, 1 April LCD WG6 meeting δP/P*P : 2.0 ↗ 2.2x10¯⁵; no asymmetric tail δPv/Pv*Pv: 2.5 ↗ 3.2x10¯⁵; asymmetric tail, overflow: 0.5 ↗ ~ 5%

Signal with Overlay J-J.Blaising, 1 April LCD WG6 meeting Visible EnergyPt Vector Sum AcoplanarityAcolinearity Overlay of γγ-> hadron does not affect significantly the discriminating variables

Summary J-J.Blaising, 1 April LCD WG6 meeting For μ̃ without overlay the momentum resolution obtained after full reconstruction is in agreement with previous results obtained by Marco last year. With γγ -> h background overlay: -ε 99.6 ↘ 98.4%; first checks indicate that the PFO’s are not built (why ?). The momentum resolution δP and the shape of the discriminating variables are not significantly affected. -FSR correction ↗ δPv and creates an asymmetric tail ~ 5% (0.5%) Work started to understand the origin of the efficiency degradation and of the asymmetric tail. Work in progress for the ẽ analysis.
