Design principles The principles of design suggest how a designer can best arrange the various elements of a page layout in connection to the overall design and to each other. They basically describe an artists terms on which to govern a piece of art or media of almost any kind. It describes ways that artists use the elements to bring together a piece of art. Layout principles Material design uses fundamental tools that have come from the world of print design, like baseline grids and a common set of structural grids that work across various pages. The layout is designed to scale across different screen sizes and will help facilitate UI development and ultimately help you create scalable apps. The layout guidelines also encourage apps to have a consistent look and feel by using the same visual elements, structural grids, and general spacing rules across platforms and screen sizes. Structural and visual consistency creates an environment for the user that is recognizable across products, which provides users with a high level of familiarity and comfort. Created by Bruce

Color Theory Color theory creates a logical structure for color, known as the color wheel. We organize color on the color wheel in relation to how they show up in relation to each other. Here's the technical definition from Wikipedia if you don’t quite understand: “color theory is a body of practical guidance to color mixing and the visual effects of a specific color combination” Think of it as a rubric for organizing colors. design/basic-color-theory

Color Wheel The color wheel is based around the colors red, yellow, and blue. Which also happens to be the color of pixels on most screen that display color. The color wheel is a traditional field of art, first created by Isaac newton in 1666, this diagram is still studied and designed. Resulting in numerous concepts of this logically arranged sequence of hues. design/basic-color-theory

Secondary Colors These colors are formed by mixing primary colors. These include various shades of green, orange, and purple. design/basic-color-theory

Primary Colors Red, yellow and blue In traditional color theory (used in paint and pigments), primary colors are the 3 pigment colors that can not be mixed or formed by any combination of other colors. All other colors are derived from these 3 hues. design/basic-color-theory

Tertiary Colors Tertiary Colors: Yellow-orange, red-orange, red-purple, blue-purple, blue-green & yellow- green These are the colors formed by mixing a primary and a secondary color. That's why the hue is a two word name, such as blue-green, red-violet, and yellow-orange. design/basic-color-theory
