Specification Quality: further analysis on Comments Disposition Reviewing PR comments disposition logs over last 2 years 1030 comments made by TAB to TCs Positive follow-up: 675 accepted, 53 partially accepted : (71%) Neutral: 113 “no action”, 33 deferred (14%) Negative: 164 disagreed (16%)

Commenting Process: Observations TAB comments are about the formal aspect of specifications – Other comments are more on the technical domain. Same specification quality problems keep coming up, in spite of more editorial resources. Comment disposition logs not adequately accessible/visible by membership. TCs with a substantial initial contribution to a specification were less likely to “accept” comments

Next steps for Specification Quality improvement Improve comment disposition visibility Need a more proactive editorial training/publicizing to TCs. Follow-up on TAB comments, (interaction with TCs, subsequent PRs…). Identify best remedial or preventive measures for each comment category
