LANTERNS Compositing Project – MS2 Isabel Vestling MS3

Concept

Timeplan -Fell behind a couple of days due to illness, managed to catch up… -Then fell behind during comp week -Those small but time-consuming problems…

Modeling/Texturing/Rendering Simple -Passes for comp

Lantern motion ”Normal” animation – did not look smooth enough Combined rigid bodies and ncloth -Tracking for integrating the ”basket” with the hands – rotation made things difficult - Transform node ”cheat” -timeconsuming? -Motion Vector

Lighting Light setup did not match so well – Difficult task Roto! -plus, over, screen, overlay, color burn, color dodge -messed up alpha numerous times Balance red light from lantern with blue atmosphere

Compositing - Nuke Projection -Problem with exporting fbx, premultiplied edges Key -IBK, Ultimatte Skipping track -Track in nuke, export camera to maya

Mattepainting – Camera projection Old concept New

Progress What’s left to do? -Fix flickering rotos -Fix lantern motion -More clouds and lanterns -DOF and Atmospherics (lights) -Final Grading, Grain What to do if time? -Roto lighter -Stabilize shot -Move camera deeper into the distance
