Born in Stockholm, Alfred Nobel was the fourth son of Immanuel Nobel, an inventor and engineer, and Karolina Andriette Nobel. He was a Swedish chemist, engineer. And he was inventor too.

The same year that Alfred was born, his father's business suffered losses and had to be closed. In 1837, Immanuel Nobel decided to try his business somewhere else and left for Finland and Russia. Alfred's mother was left in Stockholm to take care of the family.

He was inventor of dynamite. Dynamit Nobel and Akzo Nobel are the name of some companies that Nobel has established.

The first three of these prizes are awarded for physical science, in chemistry and in medical science or physiology, the fourth is for literary work and the fifth prize is to be given to the person or society that renders the greatest service to the cause of international fraternity, in the suppression or reduction of standing armies, or in the establishment of peace congresses.

Patricia Billings received a patent in 1997 for a fire resistant building material called Geobond. the result of her efforts was a solution which when added to a mixture of gypsum and concrete, creates an amazingly fire resistant, indestructible plaster trademarked Geobond.

She was born in Gardiner on March 8, 1940, the daughter of Isadore and Doris Leibowitz. Patricia was a member of the Bowdoinham Grange.

Not only can Geobond add longevity to artistic works of plastic, but also it is steadily being embraced by the construction industry as an almost universal building material. Geobond is made with non-toxic ingredients
