Bicycle Safety Committee Recommendations Strengthen the bicycle regulations to “not permit riding a bicycle through covered walkways, arcades, cloisters, and other building walkways” “Bell or Yell” campaign to be continued on annually with an emphasis on the new bicycle policy, along with general safety guidelines Mandatory bicycle registration “Read and Acknowledged – Bicycle Policy” form be signed by all bicycle registrants before their bicycle registration is processed Registration not meant to increase parking tickets – focus on stolen bikes, abandoned bikes and safety.

Bicycle Safety Committee Under Discussion Designated bicycle and/or pedestrian pathways Working with the City of Houston for additional stoplights/signs and paths on public roads adjacent to Rice Bicycle Repair Shop Student driven Maintenance classes offered Maintain bicycles for bike sharing program Bicycle Sharing Program for Rice Community Bicycle rentals on a daily or semester basis Recycle abandoned bicycles collected by the RUPD and utilize the Bicycle Repair Shop to assure bicycles are in safe working condition
