ACTION: Set up, operate, and care for 5 th RTB tactical communication platforms CONDITIONS: Given a highly motivated class, a class room environment, various communications equipment, and 1 instructor STANDARDS: Set up, operate, and care for 5 th RTB tactical communication platforms IAW FM 11-1 TERMINAL LEARNING OBJECTIVE

ENABLING LEARNING OBJECTIVE #1 ACTION: Assemble and Operate LMR Radio (P5100) CONDITIONS: Given a highly motivated class, a class room environment, LMR Radio w/antenna, battery and 1 instructor STANDARDS: Assemble and Operate LMR Radio

Introduction to the (P5100) LMR Radio The P5100 series radios are synthesized, microprocessor- based, high performance portable FM radios providing reliable two- way communications in the Enhanced Digital Access Communications Systems (EDACS ® ) and P25 Trunked environments as well as conventional communications system s.

LED The LED changes color to indicate radio status and is visible from both the front and top of the radio. COLOR Green Receiving Red Transmitting

BASIC OPERATION This section covers those functions and features common to all P5100 radio models. TURNING ON THE RADIO 1. Power ON the radio by rotating the POWER ON-OFF/VOLUME knob clockwise. A short alert signal (if enabled through programming) indicates the radio is ready to use. 2. The display shows the last selected system and group or, if programmed, a default system and group. 3. Adjust the POWER ON-OFF/VOLUME knob to the desired volume level. 4. Select the desired system and group. The display indicates the current system and group names. 5. The radio is now ready to transmit and receive calls.
