Presentation transcript:

By Mr Douglas For New Gym Members and for old ones who are ignorant of unwritten rules.

 The Be very polite to the staff  Manners cost nothing and they can get you out of trouble.

 Ask questions if you’re unsure. Question: You see an older guy in the gym. He tells you that you are doing something wrong. Should you trust his opinion?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

 School rules  TPS gear only (shorts and T’s)  Training Shoes

Rule 1

 Against School Rules!  Do not text or make calls Using your cell phone:  Taking up exercise space  Annoyance to other gym goers  Leave your cell phone in YOUR locker

 Give other gym goers their space  Do not crowd lifters  Don’t do your exercises close to the racks.  If using dumbbells, take the weights off the racks and put them back at the end. Don’t use the racks to hold the weights in-between sets.  Use designated areas appropriately  Example: No yoga in the weight room

 Ask politely if you would like to use a machine that someone else is using.  If someone asks you, then accommodate them by sharing.  If you are sharing a machine with a partner then it may not be practical to share.  Tell them how many sets you have left  Don’t dawdle!  Don’t hog the machines 

 If you’re with a training partner, don’t.  Best for cardio machines  When using free weights they can get tangled and pose a safety issue. You can get ones especially designed for the gym  Use a play list, don’t waste time changing tracks.  Keep volume down, or get noise canceling headphones.  IF YOU ARE USING YOUR PHONE TO TEXT/ CALL / GAME, IT WILL BE CONFISCATED

 Carry a personal towel  Ask nicely at the front desk for a towel  Wipe away sweat as you work out  Wipe down equipment when finished  Use a towel and disinfectant spray to clean equipment

 Use deodorant  Take a shower  Put on clean clothes  Change your socks every day

 Control the weight when putting them down. Avoid clanking! This includes all machine weights!!  Concentrate on yourself, don’t stare and don’t judge others.  Don’t be loud, don’t loiter and chat  When in the change rooms, be respectful of others using the facilities. Don’t leave your things everywhere.  Don’t use equipment if you are unsure of how to use it. Ask!  Use the equipment properly and treat with care and caution.  Use a weight which you can handle. You can do serious damage to yourself!  RESIST TESTING YOURSELF TO THE MAX ON THE MACHINES. GUYS, IT IS NOT A COMPETITION!!!!

 You are representing your school in a public place. There are always eyes watching!  Most importantly, you are representing yourself! What sort of imagine do you want to portray to others?
