HSE Safety Alert – Incident (Incident No: ) DISCUSSION On the 30 th June, 2015 an ASPEC Employee reported that whilst driving home from work, their vehicle was hit by a another vehicle that was conducting a U-Turn. The other vehicle did not see the Employee’s vehicle in it’s location, hence colliding. An ambulance was called to the incident, the Employee was treated and hospitalised following injuries to their wrist and leg. Ongoing physio and walking aids were used to aid recovery. No harm was caused to any other team members or ASPEC equipment. Actual Consequences of incident: Hospitalisation and lost time. ACTION Ambulance was called for immediate medical treatment The incident was discussed with immediate Supervisor and ASPEC Management. The following should be undertaken as a minimum for ALL ASPEC Engineering staff: Reminder to drive safely during your journey to and from work. Reminder conduct regular visual inspections whilst driving a vehicle. All ASPEC staff have a legal obligation to ensure they are familiar with the components of the HSE Management System, abiding by ASPEC HSE procedures, reporting and risk managing hazards and reporting incidents/ near misses

Don’t forget to up-date the details in the ASPEC Fire Drill Register First Aid First Aid Certificate for First Aid Officers have now all been completed in Brisbane & Newcastle. Fire Extinguisher Inspections Has your office completed this recently? Would it be more than 6 months ago? Must be completed every 6months and the ASPEC Inspection Register updated.
