Where is Karosta? Karosta is located at the Baltic Sea, in Liepāja, the third largest town of Latvia.
Built from 1890 to 1908 by Russian Tsar as main base of Baltic Naval forces. Used as a military base throughout the 20th century. Abandoned by Soviet Army in 1994.
More than Soviet soldiers left Karosta in 1994.

Karosta Prison For 92 years used as disciplinary punishment for Tsar sailors, Nazist deserteurs and Soviet soldiers. Today fully open for visitors.
