01:07:54 Emerging Services  new services, new dangers new streaming services (IPTV, fixed and mobile VoIP, …) requiring low packet latency and loss higher access rates (video servers) potentially more aggressive user flows (high rate packet bursts)

01:07:54 Problems  Little Economic Incentive  users can't tell who is responsible for QoS degradation  no reward for the invested cost in QoS  Practical Difficulties  Existing proposals for Intserv/Diffserv control latency but not jitter. Delays are pessimistic so predicted jitter can be large.  reservation does not work for variable rate flows  imprecise guarantees Need the coordination of the three relations Performance-Demand-Capacity
