Presentation transcript:

2003 HYPACK MAX Training Seminar1 Sample ADCP 112 – Computing Flow Quantities in ADCP Profile The ADCP Profile program displays color- coded flow data with the channel cross section. –Reads *.adcp data files and Hypack data files. –Displays echosounder depth or ADCP bottom track. –Calculates discharges and creates a report. –Prints or plots profiles. Data: Raw0108.log

2003 HYPACK MAX Training Seminar2 Sample ADCP 112 – Running the ADCP Profile Program Before you run ADCP Profile you must first edit your Hypack® raw files. Once the Hypack® files are edited, go to Utilities – ADCP – Profile. Load your survey and ADCP data by clicking in the first cell of the Base Survey column and selecting FILE- OPEN.

2003 HYPACK MAX Training Seminar3 Sample ADCP 112-ADCP Profile—Surveys Tab Select an individual edited file or a catalog file. The files will be listed in the column in the same order that they are listed in the catalog file. The ADCP PROFILE program will use the channel template information found in the Base Survey data files. ADCP PROFILE does not support curved survey lines.

2003 HYPACK MAX Training Seminar4 Sample ADCP 112-ADCP Profile—Graph Options Tab The Labeling Tab: –Set labels to be plotted and at what increments. In the Depth Tab: –Choose to display echosounder depths or ADCP bottom track data with the flow data. –Depth Mode plots the data as it appears in your files while Elevation Mode inverts it. –ADCP Depth Unit should be the same as your survey units.

2003 HYPACK MAX Training Seminar5 Sample ADCP 112-ADCP Profile—Graph Options Tab The Discharge and Velocity Tab sets variables relative to your ADCP data. Velocities enables you to choose which Velocity value appears on your graph. Velocity and Discharge Unit converts the velocity data to the selected units of measure. Shore Start Edge and End Edge options enable the program to estimate discharge data in the areas beyond the ends of your survey lines. It does this based on the data from the first/last measured ensemble. This can be particularly helpful in areas you cannot access to log data. Start/End Width is the distance between the start/end of the survey line and first/last ensemble. Triangular defined by a coefficient of Rectangular defined by a coefficient of Coefficient enables you to set the coefficient that best describes your end slope. Shore Pings is the number of subdivisions that the program should create between the first/last measured ensemble and Start/End Width point.

2003 HYPACK MAX Training Seminar6 Sample ADCP 112-ADCP Profile—View Tab The View Tab enables you to: –Preview the cross section graphs. –Select the survey line to view. –Adjust the scale and range of the cross section to include in the graph. –Describe objects in the channel using the Object Editor. –Customize the color settings and display them in the color bar.

2003 HYPACK MAX Training Seminar7 Sample ADCP 112 – Setting Fill Colors Click on this button to select your fill colors.

2003 HYPACK MAX Training Seminar8 Sample ADCP 112-ADCP Profile—Print Tab In the Print Tab: –Set the items to plot. These options include lines, color bar and legend. –Define number, scale and spacing of the graphs on each page. –Choose the text font. Default is Arial, 8 pt. –Set output units. –Export your graph(s) to a DXF file or send it to your printer. –Describe objects in the channel using the Object Editor. –Customize the color settings and display them in the color bar.

2003 HYPACK MAX Training Seminar9 Sample ADCP 112-ADCP Profile—Discharge Report Discharge calculations of the measured area (Mid Q). Estimations for the Top, Bottom and Slope areas. –Top Q values are based on the distance between the first good bin and the ADCP device. –Bottom Q values are based on the last good bin and the distance between that bin and the bottom. Drop-down menu tells how the data should be shown. –Individual tells the program to present the data for each bin individually and total them at the end. –Cumulative tells the program to present the total data from the shoalest to the current bin. (Thus the figures in the last line match the line totals displayed below the dotted line.)
