We are CLIMBING from Addition to Multiplication… Math Equipment:  a plus sign  a multiplication sign  an equal sign  numbers 0 through 9  a number line

How many are there? Count…

Counting in Different Ways – Groups of… 3 groups of 5 is the same as… 3x5 or 5x3

Counting in Different Ways – Repeated Addition… is the same as 3x5 or 5x3

Counting in Different Ways – Rows of… 3 rows of 5 is the same as 3x5 or 5x3

Counting in Different Ways – Counting by… Counting by 3’s is the same as… 3x5 or 5x3

That was fine! Now try it on a NUMBER LINE! bin/schtemplate.cgi?template=/kids/mw/manip/mn_popup.thtml&filename=nmbl_prim&title=Number%20Line&grade=K

Stars in Circles – Let’s Play! Each pair will receive a packet with: 2 different color dice, 2 numbered sheets of paper, and directions. The person whose birthday is up next rolls both dice. The white die will be the number of circles and the colored die will be the number of stars. Each group has numbers they are not to use. If you roll that number, roll that die again. Place the “stars” in each circle. Write the number sentences: –Ex: 3 groups of 2 stars equal 6 stars or 3 x 2=6 Show another way based on the book and the Smart Board presentation to figure it out. Use your number line worksheet also. Share with your partner and check.

Our last meeting together… Thank you for being great students during our time with you! We will miss you! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Ms. Connelly and Ms. Miles
