ORGANS

NOTE: Definitions on slides after pictures

Liver- produces bile, filtration, and digestive enzymes Spleen- filters blood, removes old and defective blood cells Urinary Bladder- temporary storage of urine Small Intestine- all nutrient absorption Stomach- site of physical and chemical breakdown

Heart- pumps blood through the circulatory system Lungs- responsible for gas exchange Gall Bladder- store and concentrate bile

Kidney- filter blood to form urine Colon/ Large Intestine- absorption of water and elimination of residues

Pancreas- principal enzyme producing organ of digestive system

Ureter- passageway of urine from the kidney to the bladder Urethra- duct where urine is moved out of the body from the bladder

Esophagus- connects the throat to the stomach; transports food and liquids Trachea- pathway for air to the lungs

Arteries and Veins
