Communication and Language, Part 2: Monkey See, Monkey Do? January 16, 2009

In Our Last Episode Last time we explored the following ideas: Language is biological. Communication systems have “design features” Human language differs from animal communication. We took a look at the communication systems of: vervet monkeys and honeybees. Moral: animal communication systems lack crucial “design features” of language. One outstanding question: Can animals acquire language, if we teach it to them?
