HI LANGUAGE INSIDE TOURNAMENT 2016 SPEECH COMPETITION The Technical Meeting FRIDAY, 15 TH OF JANUARY 2016 UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA SURABAYA

Rounds The speech competition consists of three rounds: preliminary, semifinal, and final round. In preliminary and semifinal round, each contestant must talk for a minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum of 7 minutes. One knock will mean 1 minutes have passed. Two knocks will mean 5 minutes have passed. Continuous knocking will mean that time is up. In the preliminary round, the participants use the topics based on the subthemes. In the semifinal round, the participants will be given another topic, and given a whole day to create the texts at home. In the grand final round, the participants are given an impromptu topic, with 1 hour time for preparing the speech. The speech has to be delivered within 3-5 minutes and 3 minutes for question and answer session from the adjudicators.

Rules Contestants are allowed to bring printed materials only to aid their performance. It’s also necessary to bring 2 extra copies for the judgess Judges will assess a contestant’s speech through manner, matter, and method. Contestants can choose to wear school uniform or formal attire. Each contestant will be called to perform in order by the Master of Ceremonies. Each contestant will be called three times. If by the third time said contestant does not answer, he or she will be disqualified. Contestants can choose to wear school uniform or formal attire.
