WHAT IS THE FSA? THE FLORIDA STANDARDS ASSESSMENT (FSA) Will prepare Florida students for success in college, career, and in life by emphasizing analytical thinking. Measures student mastery of the standards taught. Emphasizes critical thinking. Able to compare student nationally.
CHANGES IN STUDENT EXPECTATIONS The Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) developed by the American Institutes for Research (AIR) demand students… maintain an increased sense of accountability toward their own learning develop a concept beyond an opinion and move to “support and evidence” think in a more conceptual, analytical and global manner utilize higher-order, critical thinking skills shift from mere memorization of terms to a deep understanding of meaning transfer skills to new experiences operate in a more student-centered environment with built in peer collaboration
FSA DATES AND TIMES February 29 th – April 15 th, 2016 Check with your child’s school for specific date 2 Days 2 Sessions 80 minutes per session 160 minutes total for grade level Reference sheet with conversions will be provided Reference sheet If your child is ill, keep him/her home. Students may not finish a session if they leave the school during a session, and sessions must be taken in order.
